The Ibero-American Social Security Organization (OISS), as part of its 2020-2023 Strategic Plan -which is aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, especially in its objective 8- has resolved to create the Ibero-American Observatory of Safety and Health at Work (ISST Observatory) with the following objectives: 1) to collaborate in the global diagnosis on OSH in the Region, 2) to provide rigorous and comparable information on OSH in the Region, and 3) to establish recommendations to improve information systems on OSH in the Region.

This initiative has the collaboration of the National Institute for Safety and Health at Work of the Ministry of Labor (INSST), the office for Spain of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Center for Research in Occupational Health of the Pompeu Fabra University (CiSAL-UPF), who assumes the scientific direction of the ISST Observatory.

For the governance of the ISST Observatory, the Governing Council is created, chaired by the OISS and in which, as full members, professional, administrative and academic institutions, as well as the Scientific Committee, may participate.
