Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Occupational Health Council of Costa Rica

On January 27, 2020, the Board of Directors of the Occupational Health Council of Costa Rica met (https://www.cso.go.cr/), with the presence of the Minister of Health (Mr. Daniel Salas P), the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security (Mr. Luis Diego Aguilar M), the Vice President of the Council (Mrs. Patricia Redondo E, Director of Occupational Health of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund), the Director of the Occupational Health Council and Secretariat of the Board of Directors (Ms. María Gabriela Valverde F) and representatives of trade union and business organizations.

In this meeting, Marianela Rojas, academic from the National University of Costa Rica and a collaborating researcher at CiSAL and Fernando G. Benavides, senior researcher at CiSAL-UPF / IMIM presented the proposal of the “I National Survey of Working Conditions, Employment and Health in Costa Rica”, with a sample size sufficient to be able to disaggregate in detail by provinces. The proposal was valued very positively by the attendees, and it was agreed to follow up to have concrete results throughout the year. The proposal to create the “Observatory of Occupational Health of Costa Rica” was also valued.
